A Lesson to be Learned
Canada is ranked as one of the best countries in the world in which to live. If this is to continue then the Canadian government must deal with the discontent within regions and peoples of Canada. The Quebec example is one that shows how fragile the Canadian Confederation really is.
What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?
The most interesting thing I learned was how close the vote was in 1995. It really makes you think about how different Canada would be without Quebec.
What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?
I learned how fragile the Canadian government really is. Unhappy people weaken our country. The government needs to respect, appreciate and accept the values and cultures of all the people living within Canada.
How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?
Being First Nation I see a lot of similarities between the people of Quebec and our First Nation community. All people should be treated the same with appreciation, acceptance and respect.
