Students are invited to participate in the 2015 Canada Day Challenge sponsored by Canadian Heritage for a chance to win great prizes, including all-expenses paid trip for two to Ottawa to celebrate Canada Day on Parliament Hill: go backstage, meet some of Canada’s most inspiring people, tour museums, galleries, the iconic Parliament Buildings and be part of a special summer exhibit at the Canadian Museum of History!

The Kingston Regional Heritage Fair is pleased to announce a partnership with the Kingston Canadian Film Festival.As part of the Kingston Canadian Film Festival 2015 event, previous Young Citizen winners will have their videos screened as part of the Festival's Youth Shorts program.The Young Citizens program, for students aged 10 – 16, offers students an opportunity to create a short video as their Heritage Fair topic, much like an evening news report or short documentary film.

In 2015 the Kingston  Regional  Heritage Fair will be hosting  two workshops to assist students planning their Young Citizens project.The first workshop "Historical Story Telling" will be held at the Pump House Steam Museum on Saturday, March 7th. This workshop will help students identify how to tell a story about a historical event and aid them in developing their Young Citizen project.

The 2015 Kingston Regional Heritage Fair will be presenting and adjudicating Young Citizen entries at the 07 May 2015 Fair. Winning entries will be showcased as part of the Awards Ceremony.

The Heritage Fairs Program is a multi-media initiative developed to increase public awareness and interest in Canadian history. The Kingston Regional Heritage Fair offers students the opportunity to explore the many aspects of their Canadian heritage in a dynamic learning environment and to present the results of their efforts in either French or English in a public exhibition. The program is non-competitive in nature, with an emphasis on the importance of the learning process and the exchange of ideas.
